Porec, Croatia 15th - 27th September 2016

15th-27th September 12 day Break to Poreč, Croatia - Trip cancelled

Inclusive of drinks with evening meal only in Poreč

Mancass in association with Andersons offer this 12 day tour to Poreč, Croatia. On the western coast of the istrian Riviera, Poreč pronounced Porech is the most welcoming of resorts. Its picturesque harbour and stone cobbled streets are a postcard- pretty setting. Poreč has become a leading centre of Croatian tourism, developing from a small fishing village to an attractive tourist hub. There are several ways to visit the town from our hotel, from a really pleasant walk along the shoreline where you can also catch a small road train or you can catch a water taxi. The water taxi is my favourite especially at night when the short journey is idyllic with the town lit up in the background, music playing and drinking schnapps.

Our hotel attractively set on a hillside is the Hotel Mediteran with its own outdoor swimming pool and seating areas. You can take a walk through the gardens to the pool, or there are a number of pathways lead to a sheltered cove where you can spend your day relaxing on its bathing platforms. The air conditioned dining room serves buffet meals with complimentary drinks at dinner - soft drinks, house wine and draught beer. All rooms are ensuite and there is a lift in the hotel although with it being on a split level there are some steps to negotiate. Rooms are available with a balcony at an additional cost but please book early as these will be limited. There is also an evening program of entertainment in the outdoor seating area.

We will travel by luxury coach owned by Gill & Paul Anderson. Their coach has fully upholstered reclining seats, with plenty of legroom. The super smooth Setra coaches have onboard toilet facilities and the range of drinks served on board are cold and hot beverages, soups, speciality coffee's, various wines, bottled beers, spirits and mixers, all at reasonable prices.

We leave from the Manchester area on Thursday evening,15th September and make our way to Folkstone for our shuttle crossing to France. We then continue through the low countries to Germany for our overnight stay in the Hotel Landgasthof, Sternbrau. After checking in you can relax, enjoy your evening meal and sample the beer from the micro brewery run by the hotel. The following morning we make an early start for the remainder of our journey to the beautiful country of Croatia. Travelling by road has its advantages as many local sights can be seen first hand and places of interest pointed out by our hosts.

During your stay there will be plenty of time to explore Poreč and enjoy the hotels facilities. We include 3 excursions and there is an optional boat ride to Rovinj, not to be missed

Pula:

On the southern part of the Istrian Peninsula, a town of antiquity and of summer festivals is an attractive place to spend for many tourists. The best known and most valuable ancient monument is the Arena, a majestic Coliseum dating from the second century and is the 6th largest in the world. Well worh a visit.

After our morning vist we will travel to Pig Street where we will stop for lunch or if you prefer a relaxing drink. The food however is well worth trying.

Grozjnan:

Croatia’s Istrian peninsula is a treasure trove of tiny hilltop towns. Sprinkled across green valleys and luscious vineyards, each town is unique, and has its own story to tell, Grozjnan is an  ideal day trip destination.

With a view of the sea and a stunning valley spread below it, Groznjan is a beauty. It has, till this date, retained its medieval features, with its urban core still intact. The town-gates throw up a labyrinth of tiny, crooked cobblestone streets. These lanes veer off in a dozen directions, like nerves, some slipping past arches, others over slopes. Each little lane holds lopsided art galleries and art studios and of course quaint little cafe's
