Presidents Cup, Royal Blackley Golf Course

Presidents Cup, Royal Blackley Golf Course
Friday, 29th May 2026

Once again brilliant sunshine greeted an extremely small field for Royal Blackley. Due to a number of holidays and injuries only 19 people attended this prestigious event. The President himself Mel Garner was unable to play but he was there to greet the players and have his bacon butty.

Johnny Shepherd was attempting to win this competition for the 4th successive time and his recent good form made him a firm favourite in the betting.

The results on the day saw the top 4 players all shooting par or better with Keith McEwan making a return to the winners enclosure.

The golf was followed with a welcome beer provided by the President  and a two course meal.  As previously mentioned in last report the Captains fundraising efforts towards the Ronald Macdonald House took place. Rob Goodwin – Davey, with good support, is doing a fantastic job in these efforts and the £10k looking more and more achievable.

It was good to see Betty Fallows making a welcome return is not easy to be the only lady in the comp, as Frances Sinnott can usually attest. More lady golfers needed.
