Mancass in association with Andersons have organised this great 5 day break to the fabulous Christmas markets, including the medieval markets in the town of Ribeauville in the Alsace, Karlsruhe & Baden Baden and Stuttgart. We are staying at the family run Hotel Ochsen and served by our genial host Armin whom many of you will remember from our previous visits there. Our hosts always have a warm welcome, with good home cooking and plenty of it, you will not go hungry on this trip.

Our hosts always have a warm welcome, with good home cooking and plenty of it, you will not go hungry on this trip. From our pick up points we make our way south towards the Eurotunnel terminal in Folkstone making comfort stops enroute. After our 35 minute crossing we continue through France and Belgium towards Germany and our hotel for the next 4 nights. After arriving and checking in you will have time to unpack before enjoying a 3 course evening meal in the hotel. Included in this trip are the excursions listed below:

At Christmas time, the Cité de Ménétriers submerses visitors in a joyous medieval atmosphere. Jugglers, dancers, minstrels, bandits, merchants in costumes of the Middle Ages... take over Ribeauvillé for a medieval Christmas market which is particularly original and authentic! Unique in Alsace

Nestling in Alsace's wine producing region, Ribeauvillé or the "strolling fiddlers’ town" heartily invites you to come along and celebrate a medieval Christmas! The towers, ramparts and the three castles give Ribeauvillé a fairytale decorative setting worthy of the Middle Ages. This wine producing town with its medieval architecture is ideally suited for discovering all the charm of a traditional Christmas. Ribeauvillé’s Christmas market makes the most of this enchanting setting, displaying a selection of Christmas trees bearing coats of arms and banners! Some facades are illuminated with lighting effects, and all are attractively decorated with stars and angels.

Ribeauvillé’s Christmas market stands out for its unique atmosphere from another age! You could admire the skill of fire jugglers or the elegant dances of the genteel ladies and gentlemen of Ribeaupierre. The troubadours’ songs and storytellers’ tales further add to the authentic atmosphere of this Christmas market, which really is one of a kind.

During the Advent season, Karlsruhe transforms into a magical Christmas city, the inner city sparkles with thousands of lights, horse-drawn sleighs clatter across the cobblestone streets, imaginatively decorated shop windows invite passersby to browse and shop, and the scents of cotton candy and roasted almonds hang in the air.

Baden Baden

Situated at the beginning of Baden-Baden’s world famous and splendid parks and gardens “Lichtentaler Allee”, the “Christkindelsmarkt Baden-Baden” seduces visitors from all over the world to a romantic winter fairytale.

From 21 November to 30 December 2016 visitors encounter small streets of festive stalls, where the romantic atmosphere is heightened by thousands of shimmering Christmas lights. The entire experience is capped with a destive and manifold program of entertainment and culinary delights for both young and old.

Let your mind wander and relax in a festive atmosphere at the shine of numerous romantic little stalls surrounded by aromas of roasted almonds, gingerbread and the traditional hot mulled wine. A large selection of Christmas treats offers a culinary delight for everyone’s tast

Stuttgart is a vibrant city with top-class art and culture, appealing leisure activities and fantastic shops. Stuttgart is at the centre of one of Germany's foremost economic regions. What’s more, the people of Stuttgart really do know how to throw a party - the lively Stuttgart Beer Festival, the traditional Wine Festival and the atmospheric Stuttgart Christmas market are just three of its popular events.

Every year in Advent Stuttgart is transformed into a glittering Christmas city! Stuttgart’s Christmas Market with over 280 beautifully decorated stalls is not only one of the oldest but without doubt also one of the largest of its kind in the whole of Europe. Its illuminations are second to none, the festive concerts of seasonal music in the Renaissance courtyard of the Old Palace and the “Winterland” on the Palace Square all contribute to the incomparable Christmas atmosphere which enchants millions of visitors year after year.

This will be a magic Christmas trip so rather than show you another market picture I will just say cheers with my glass of Gluwein and look forward to you joining us.

Sadly its Sunday and  we have to leave our hosts and make our way back through France, to the Eurotunnel terminal for our crossing home.  We should arrive back late evening into Manchester.
