Portland Spring Cup, 27th March 2025 @ Worsley GC

Portland Spring Cup, 27th March 2025 @ Worsley GC

The 2025 Portland Golf Society series got off to a flying start at Worsley Golf Club. There was a good turn out with 32 golfers making the trip to fashionable Worsley. The houses around the golf club bear all the hallmarks of being in a wealthy area and this is evidenced by the proliferation of footballer type houses.

The surroundings didn’t detract from the quality of the golf and the result was a very close finish with just three points separating the top 7 golfers.

The nearest the pins and two’s prize give everyone a chance and its not just the low handicappers picking up these prizes. In fact there were no two’s from the nearest the pin winners but 4 two’s recorded including two two’s for Andy Howarth.

The results for the places and the trophy as mentioned were very close as you can see. In the end Johnny Shepherd took the honours on a back 9 card play off from Bill Harris. Johnny receiving his trophy from new captain Jay Chambers.

The next event is Portland Cup at Hart Common on 25th April 2025
