Tour of the RHS Garden Bridgewater, 11am, Saturday, 12th June 2021

Bridgewater will be the first new RHS garden in 18 years and will be truly unique, as it boasts a range of habitats from woods and lakes to streams and meadows. The ambition is to create one of the most beautiful and inspiring gardens.

History of Worsley New Hall - Once visited by Queen Victoria and King Edward VII, Worsley New Hall survived a fire and two World Wars before it was demolished in the 1940s

In its heydey, Worsley New Hall, standing in its glorious, formal landscaped gardens, was a notable residence of its era.
Just as grand as the house, the magnificent gardens were landscaped over a 50-year period. Landscape designer William Andrews Nesfield, one of the most sought-after of his profession at the time, was involved in the project from 1846.
Beyond the terraces, landscaped parkland extended to a lake, and by 1875 the lake had been enlarged and a grotto built on its island, which was reached by a footbridge.

Looking to the future - The master plan for RHS Garden Bridgewater will embrace the site's heritage while also giving it a future.
Commenting on the plans, broadcaster and RHS Vice President, Alan Titchmarsh MBE, said: 'The development of the RHS’ new fifth Garden will be the biggest hands-on gardening project the charity will have undertaken in its 211-year history. Watching how RHS Garden Bridgewater takes shape and grows is going to be fascinating, especially some of the major restoration projects like the Walled Kitchen Garden.'

Highclere Castle Sunday 28th to 30th July 2019

Day 1 - Travel to the 4 star Apollo Hotel, Basingstoke via National Arboretum

The Arboretum is home to over 300 thought-provoking memorials, each with a story to be discovered. To help you find your way around we and choose the sites of interest to you we have included a train ride.

The memorials are diverse in nature, rich in symbolism and collectively represent a broad population of society from military associations, charitable organisations, emergency services, fraternity groups and individuals.

After visiting The Arboretum we will travel to our hotel in plenty of time to refresh ourselves ready for the evening meal.

 The hotel boasts comfortable accommodation comprising of 125 bedrooms, all equipped with en-suite facilities, TV, Hospitality Tray & hairdryer.  The restaurant offers an innovative menu. Guests can relax in the Library Bar and there is a Health & Fitness Club and Spa Treatment Rooms

Day 2 - Highclere Castle and ‘Downton Villages’

We start our day by visiting Highclere Castle, the real ‘Downton Abbey’, and home of the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon. The current design of Highclere was completed in 1938 when the 3rd Earl of Carnarvon brought in Sir Charles Barry to transform his classical Georgian mansion into a grand mansion that would impress the world. We take a self-guided one-hour tour of the public rooms, including the state rooms and bedrooms where scenes for the show were filmed. We also explore the ‘Egyptian Exhibition’, located throughout the cellars, celebrating the 5th Earl of Carnarvon’s discovery of the Tomb of Tutankhamun. There’s time to discover the ‘Capability Brown’ designed grounds, browse the gift shop where there are some non-fictional works written by the Countess herself, and perhaps stop for tea and cake at one of the tea rooms. In the afternoon we spend free time in the Cotswold villages of Shilton and Swinbrook. We also visit the picturesque village of Bampton where most of the outdoor scenes for ‘Downton Abbey’ were filmed, including St Mary’s Church, the village pub, the Library and Matthew Crawley’s house

Day 3 - After breakfast we head north and stop at Royal Lemington Spa. Time to stretch your legs, go for a bit of lunch or a coffee and a cake. All areas of the town centre are easily accessed on foot within a ten minute walk, which is a great way to appreciate the stunning Regency architecture.

With an unrivalled selection of specialist boutiques and major high-street stores, Royal Leamington Spa is a shopping experience not to be missed. The town has an eclectic mix of independent retailers selling unique and interesting wares, coupled with all the well-known brands offered by national chains. So whether you’re after one-off pieces or household names, Royal Leamington Spa has them all within a beautifully picturesque town centre.

Harry Potter : Warner Studios Tour, Sunday 22nd to Monday 23rd July 2018

The Harry Potter Studio Tour is an absolute must for any Potter fan! This is your chance to step on to authentic sets, and discover the magic behind spellbinding special effects and explore the behind-the-scenes secrets of the Harry Potter film series. You will encounter animatronic creatures and wander down Diagon Alley as you make your way through the Tour. The Warner Bros Studio Tour will allow you to relive the magic through the eyes of the film makers who brought the Harry Potter film series to life.

Day 1: Travel to your hotel, via our Mystery stop to stretch your legs and have a bit of lunch.                                                                                                               

 

 

We continue on to The Holiday Inn at Elstree where after booking in you will have time to relax before your evening meal.

Day 2: After breakfast  we travel down the road to the studios where we have an allocated time to enter the tour,

Welsh Activity Weekend 1st & 2nd September 2018


Day 1: Travel in your own transport with check in from 14:00.  If time permits you can spend the rest of the day at leisure, in Bangor if you wish,  returning to the hotel in plenty of time to freshen up for a 3 course evening meal


Day 2: Velocity at ZipWorld

Zip World Velocity at Zip World Penrhyn Quarry, Bethesda, is the fastest zip line in the world and the longest in Europe. This adventure takes you on the Little Zipper to build your confidence before you journey up the quarry on our famous red trucks. Take in the stunning views from the Big Top of Velocity, out towards Anglesey with views of the Isle of Man on a clear day. You will then descend down the Big Zipper over the quarry lake often reaching speeds well in excess of 100mph.

the Zip line is booked from 12:30, we fly at 13:00 and takes 2 hours to complete

Please note that you do not have to do the Zip line but can watch your partner or friend.

The Management Centre is graded as Visit Wales 4 star Guest Accommodation and offers 56 en-suite guest bedrooms that have achieved the Visit Wales Business Class Gold Standard
